Fully automated confocal imaging with high quality optics
Fully integrated motorized stage
The FV10i's precision-engineered stage assures high accuracy and repeatability, with motorized movement on both the X and Y axes. It can handle standard slides as well 35mm Petri dishes, and offers tight workflow integration with automatic stage control that enables users to perform multi-area time-lapse experiments extending over several hours. In addition, the motorized stage makes it easy to create 2x2 and 3x3 montages of adjoining areas, helping to ensure that live cell targets stay within the field of observation over time.

Spectral detection system
The detecting mechanism has two fluorescence channels, and one phase-contrast channel. The fluorescence channels use a newly developed spectral detection system composed of a grating, beam splitter, and slit. Together with the FV10i's virtual channel function, this enables crosstalk-free images to be acquired in line sequences when imaging with two fluorescence dyes, and in frame sequences when imaging with three or four dyes.

High-quality 10X and 60X objectives
Both models of the FV10i system are equipped with high-quality 10x and 60x objectives, with continuously variable zoom ranging from 10x to 600x. The imaging area can be set to suit the size of the specimen. On the FV10i-LIV, a newly developed automatic water-dispensing system supplies water to the top of the water-immersion objective. Because water is supplied whenever the objective is moved into the observation position, extended time-lapse imaging can be performed without worrying about insufficient immersion media. When using the 60x water-immersion objective, the FV10i-LIV also detects the thickness of the cover glass and automatically adjusts the correction collar to assure consistently optimum imaging conditions.
